Outdoor Classroom Day 2023

Today we celebrated Outdoor Classroom Day, which is a global movement to make time outdoors part of every child’s day. On two days of action each year, this initiative encourages teachers to take children outdoors to play and learn. At Newfield we are working to develop our outdoor learning provision and our children get regular opportunities to learn and play outside. Learning and playing outside benefits all of our children - it might involve a walk to the park for Physical Education; sorting and counting objects and colour for maths; listening to a story in the Gazebo, Creating shapes and pictures using sticks; tidying and cleaning our outside areas - cleaning windows, litter picking etc; A music lesson using pots and pans; Exploring and playing with water and sand or in a mud kitchens… there are endless possibilities…
