Sensory Story Session

Today E2 and C3 were lucky enough to enjoy a multi-sensory story session courtesy of a visiting author – Salma Zaman.

We started off the session by exploring one of the books she has written – Greedy Gertie – we did this through sounds and actions.

We then enjoyed learning a Bollywood dance, using materials and instruments, we were encouraged to move different parts of our bodies along to the music.

To finish we calmed with giant colourful feathers scented in chamomile which we explored before experiencing the feel of them on our hands and faces.

The session ended with a gong – a tiny sound which moved around the room encouraging us to listen and track.

It was a very worthwhile session which the children got so much out of and a great link to their literacy work.
