Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Higher Level Teaching Assistant - Permanent – Grade G

37 hours per week £35,412 to £39,152 pro rata salary range

£18.35 to £20.29 per hour

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our busy, demanding and rewarding school, starting in April 2026.

The HLTA role at Newfield can be deployed in a number of ways.

You could be required to carry out duties in any of the areas outlined within the key responsibilities, however, we would be keen to hear from anyone with experience in particular within the Post 16 and Physical Development key responsibility areas. You will support pupils’ education, health, medical, physical and general care needs following agreed plans, promote effective communication for all pupils using a range of agreed strategies e.g.: Makaton, PECS, communication aides etc. and take a lead role in the management of pupils and the classroom under the direction of the teacher.

Please see details of working pattern below to be worked 39 weeks per year during term time including 5 annual professional development full days:

• Monday & Tuesday - 8am til 4.15pm

• Wednesday & Thursday – 8.30am – 4.30pm

• Friday – 8.30am til 3.30pm

Actual salary range - £30,459 - £33,675 based on working part time during term time
