  1. The name of the school is Newfield Special School.
  2. The school is a Community Special School.
  3. The name of the governing body is “The governing body of Newfield School”
  4. The governing body shall consist of:
    • a) 2 parent governors
    • b) 1 LA governor
    • c) 1 staff governor
    • d) Headteacher
    • e) 5 co-opted governors
  5. Total number of governors 10
  6. The term of office is 4 years.
  7. This instrument of government comes into effect on 6 November 2018.
  8. This instrument was made by order of Blackburn with Darwen Local Authority on 6th November 2018.
  9. A copy of the instrument must be supplied to every member of the governing body (and the Headteacher if not a governor).

Newfield School is committed to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults as its number one priority.

Full copies of Policies and Procedures related to all aspects of Safeguarding, and the Complaints Policy, are available on request from Geoff Fitzpatrick, Head Teacher and Designated Senior Lead for Safeguarding and Child Protection.

Our objectives will be reported on and published as part of the Governance public documents available for inspection under the Freedom of Information Regulations and Data Protection duties and in the school newsletter to parents.
