About Janet Doolan.

Janet has been a governor since 2009 when she moved to Blackburn with her family to start a new job and get the best support for their son.

She is mum to a young man on the Autism spectrum and head’s up a local company providing specialist conservation advice and business support.

Janet’s skill set is wide ranging from leading successful teams, managing and monitoring key functions, business planning and budgeting. In her early career she moved out of Lancashire to London then to Cumbria where she worked for almost 20 years in the Careers and then Connexions Service. She joined as a Careers Adviser and progressed into management roles where she successfully delivered contracts which involved supporting young people and adults to fulfill their potential through learning and development. On moving back into the county 20 years ago she’s worked in regeneration, employment and skills policy and business support roles.

Special interests are to ensure our pupils make successful transitions, are kept safe and achieve their full potential.

Janet chair’s the Finance & Resources Committee and also chair’s the Health & Safety and Premises Committee. She has a designated responsibility for Learning & Development and school website.

Safeguarding

Newfield School is committed to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults as its number one priority.

Full copies of Policies and Procedures related to all aspects of Safeguarding, and the Complaints Policy, are available on request from Rachel Kay, Head Teacher and Designated Senior Lead for Safeguarding and Child Protection.
