Earth and Sky Poetry Project Bench

Today Hannah, Hishaam and Shajiena had the opportunity to go to Guide recreation park to be interviewed by The Festival of Making.

A couple of years ago these students, along with others who have now left Newfield, wrote ‘A Pandemic Reflection Poem’ and submitted it to the Festival of Making.

You may recall we were selected to be part of the Earth and Sky Poetry project, in which various poems were written by local people to be presented in the community. We were lucky enough to have our verse painted on our poolside wall which featured in our outside exhibition of 2021.

Well, this poem has again proven to be touching and special to the us and the community, as our line has now been printed onto a bench in the Guide Recreational Area.

Shajiena, Hannah and Hishaam are three students who took part in writing the poem and had the opportunity to speak to an interview crew about their experience in the project. It was a very cold day but the students were thrilled to see their work and Newfield’s name in the community.

If you are ever in the area, please pop down and see it.
