COVID Reflections Poem - Installation

This week saw the installation of a line from the COVID Reflections Poem that TG1 wrote earlier in the year as part of the Festival of Making - Of Earth and Sky - our installation forms part of a much wider piece of artwork with big words of inspiration and hope painted as huge letters across the streets of Blackburn with Darwen.

The map on the website shows where, for three months, Of Earth And Sky sees giant-sized poetry appear in over 30 locations in Blackburn and Darwen from professional and amateur poets based locally, regionally and nationally. In addition to the trail, more poetry can be seen daily on the digital screen in Blackburn Town Centre - you can see ours in one of the photos here, from the town centre last week!

Artist Emma came along to school with the stencils to support pupils to chalk on the outline letters, which the artists then spray painted onto the wall at the back of our pool - pupils in SEND can walk directly past this, and pupils in Autism walk on the road below this - so both areas of school are able to share in the artwork.

We think it looks brilliant and everyone really enjoyed getting creative!

Next week is our Art Exhibition, where we will be premiering the animation film of the poem!

We are hoping for good weather, so that this can take place outside and people can enjoy the graffiti poetry alongside the many other artworks on display - fingers crossed for sunshine!
