Fantastic Plastic at Blackburn Train Station

Today the students from post 16, who had worked on the project, went to see our ‘Fantastic Plastic’ art piece at Blackburn Train station. They started the piece back in October 2021, and finally got to see it in all its glory today!

We met artist Alastair Nicholson, who created the piece with the pupils and made two signs promoting a clean environment.

This was extra special as all of Newfield School worked together to collect hundreds of green and blue milk bottle lids, which were then melted down for the students cut and arranged them on the signs.

It was wonderful for the students to see all their hard work being displayed in the community with our eco friendly art piece.

A big thank you to teacher Tracy Durkin, our artist Alastair Nicholson and Shaheista who works with northern rail for setting up this project.

Thanks also to Georgie, Jackie and Carol for arranging the visit to see the artwork - We hope next time you are at the train station that you will go and have a look at it - and of course, recycle your rubbish!
