Today we once again celebrated languages and cultures worldwide on European Day of Language.
Our secondary and post 16 classes have spent some time this week researching about the language and culture of their choice, in readiness for running a stall in our language market this morning.
We had representatives from Italy, Spain, USA, Poland, France and more and the stalls were visited by pupils from throughout the school.
There were lots of interesting sensory activities to do involving flags and other cultural items linked to countries, and opportunities to create artwork.
We had a lot of food to taste - the Polish stall had a range of traditional cakes and pierogi which were very popular, and younger children had been using practical fine motor skills to enjoy croissant et confiture…
There were sound buttons where children could listen to words being spoken in the language and try it out themselves - some of our budding linguists really enjoyed copying the sounds.
It was a really nice atmosphere is our first whole school celebratory event of the year, and we all learnt something new and tried something a bit different.
