Newfield X Crosshill Collaboration

Over the past few months S3 have been working with another school in Blackburn with Darwen as part of schools link network. The scheme creates links with other school that may never have worked collaboratively in the past. Initially, the class teacher - Helen Thomas - met the School linking network coordinators and the class teacher from Crosshill via Zoom. From that meeting both teachers agreed that it would be a fantastic opportunity for our students to take part.

Firstly, we needed to create ‘all about me’ sheets and then we exchanged ours with Crosshill school so that we could get to know a bit about each other. We have a display board with our link school class information.

It was then arranged that both groups of students would meet at a neutral venue and Blackburn YouthZone sports hall was chosen.

On the planned day all of the students took part in team games such as boccia and curling, then they finished off by playing ‘duck, duck, goose.

Everyone had a great time. It was so much fun that they planned another joint visit. Both teachers then planned visits to go to each other’s schools and work together.

Today, S3 went to Crosshill school to work with their link class.

They went there to use their life skills room where they would be making bagel pizzas with some of the Crosshill students. It was a lovely session working with their link school friends.

Our students were very well behaved and enjoyed the play area next to the life skills room.

On Thursday, Crosshill school students will be visiting Newfield School to work with S3. Hopefully the sun will be shining by then!
