Post 16 Residential 2026

This week, some of our post 16 students have been up to Calvert Lakes, in the beautiful Lake District, to experience a residential visit. They left school on a nice sunny Wednesday and began the adventure. They stopped for some lunch on the way and arrived at around 1pm. In the afternoon they went for a drive and a walk in the beautiful countryside and had a tour of the centre. In the evenings they all had some down time in the sensory room and the lounge area, and after tea they spent the evening having a swim session in the pool - where there was some DJing going on too

The following day they enjoyed riding different bikes, and also made fire pits to toast marshmallow - they had great fun and also enjoyed skimming stones across the idyllic lake - the weather was really kind too, which is amazing in the Lakes where it usually rains a lot!

Having grown in confidence and developed their independence skills by being away from home, on Friday they went full dare devil!

They all had a go walking on the high ropes, which is pretty scary… and some of them also had a go on the zip wire - which is exhilarating and terrifying.

They arrived back at school safe and sound on Friday, and everyone, students and staff was shattered, but had a wonderful time and created memories - we are so proud of them - well done everyone!
