Takeover Week 2025

This week we have our (now annual) Takeover Week, where our pupils takeover adult roles in school. They have chosen the job they would like to try out and will have the opportunity to work with staff and experience carrying out activities and making decisions.

Today, L has been working with Deputy Jenny - she welcomed and directed children and staff at arrival, using the phone to call for specific people. She then met with Karl, the representative from 4D who had come in to look at providing a quote for updating our sensory rooms. She showed him the Studios in both areas of school and discussed what would make them even better.

Today, T also took over, he was doing Mathilde’s role as Newfield School’s Family Wellbeing Coordinator.

T interacted with various staff, made and received phone calls and participated in a couple of strategic meetings. One with Caroline, our Business Services Leader and another with Jenny, our Deputy Head Teacher. He also liaised with our lovely office staff and photocopied important documents. T worked hard today and was an asset to the Team! Big Thank You!!!

Two of our other older students have been taking part in weekly work experience at a charity shop in Longridge. they have brought clothes back to school to wash and iron, ready to hang up to sell. they have served in the shop and even helped to hoover and tidy it ready for customers - amazing independence skills!

Watch out for more exciting Takeovers during the week.
