Takeover Week 24

This week, older students around school are taking part in the Takeover Challenge’ - The Takeover Challenge puts children and young people into real-life adult positions in organisations.

The national Takeover Day theme in 2024 is Careers, bringing Takeover Day back to its roots and highlighting how it can support young people of all ages to learn about different jobs and develop their skills.

Here at Newfield, students get to choose an adult role they want to takeover, and then they get to do it!

Breeze enjoyed working in the kitchen, he helped put the chairs out and got stuff ready for lunch, he listened to instructions from unfamiliar staff.

Minhaj was part of the IT team helping Lynx with his morning jobs all around school, talking to lots of people and supporting them with IT issues and making sure things run smoothly.

Maleeha was a nurse for the morning helping nurse Francesca with weighing and measuring children and lots of other jobs. She did an amazing job.

Christopher was part of the site team on Monday morning, helping Galina with recycling, emptying the shedder and setting the hall up for dinner.

Endija was a teacher in Dawn’s class, helping with the studio session.

Suha was took over the role of deputy head, working alongside Jenny. She was invited to chair a review where she engaged really well with the parent, listening and commenting appropriately in an important meeting.

Ron enjoyed being Greg at the end of the day, helping with dismissals and making sure the pupils got on the correct buses - he really liked being in charge of the microphone!
