A Love of Laughter and Learning

It’s been another busy week around school with lots of learning going on!

In a week of all weather, some pupils were making most of the last bit of the summer - C11 moved their classroom outdoors one afternoon for their messy art lesson and then had a fun time washing their hands splashing each other.

In S5, learners have been working on their understanding of ordering number, counting and addition as a class. There were different activities put in place to support each child at their level, and now they can demonstrate some independence in these activities. As a life long skill this will help the children to recognise numbers in the environment, such as reading door numbers and bus numbers.

On another wetter day, the rain didn’t stop the Hedgehog class (E2) having fun in the sensory garden.

C10 - aka Octopus class - have been learning about octopuses this week and using their skills to explore sensory items whilst they learn about octopuses - they have made an octopus pizza and explored items from under the sea related to the life of an octopus!

S2 have been extremely busy this week, listening to the story - ‘Tidy’ by Emily Gravett and then colouring in pictures of ‘Pete the Badger.’ They have also been making comments about what they can see in the text. Pupils have enjoyed using fine motor skills to make their our own play dough for ‘dough disco’, which is a really fun way of getting hands ready for work. They have finished off the busy week in the sensory playground.

S4 have been enjoying independent mark making in sensory activities and painting self portraits, and they all really enjoyed their visit to the play area this morning.

And finally this week, TG2 have enjoyed a walk to the shop to buy snacks for class and have also enjoyed going to the hospital cafe. They also enjoyed meeting up with mates at the roundabout in the sensory garden.

One thing is for sure - everyone from our youngest to our oldest members of the Newfield Family is ready for the weekend and has had a fabulous week!
