Each week primary and secondary phases have a special assembly, where we celebrate the pupils’ achievements as well as thinking about a particular focus.
Today in the Primary Assembly we have learned about World Oceans Day.
World Oceans Day is celebrated annually on 8th June, and serves as a reminder of the crucial role the ocean plays in our lives and the urgent need to address the various challenges it faces. World Oceans Day was first proposed in 1992 at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro.
In our assembly we have talked about making sure we recycle our plastic to make sure that it doesn’t end up in our lakes and oceans.
We collected and recycled all the plastic that was trapped in ‘Newfield’s Ocean’ and saved our sea animals from all the plastic. It was a really fun and practical assembly that helped us to think about the environment.
We al love the beaches and seaside, so it’s important that we all play our part to keep them litter free and healthy!
