On the 18th April, just after the Easter break, we were delighted to welcome back into school Dr Helen Mills, an assessor for the Wellbeing Award for School, WAS, who came to reassess us for reaccreditation of the award.
We first received this award in June 2020 - which was during the dreaded covid lockdown period, so Helen had to do the visit ‘virtually’.
This time, we were able to have her back in school (Helen has actually visited once in 2019 - pre pandemic) and she had a fantastic day talking to children (who took her on a tour of school), parents and staff.
Helen has now sent through the full report, which you can read on our awards page, and states that she is ‘delighted to recommend that Newfield School retain the Wellbeing Award in Schools for a further period of three years’.
We are thrilled to have such a complimentary report, which is testament to the devotion of every single member of the Newfield Family - thank you to Helen and to everyone - we should all be very proud of this achievement which recognises the wonderful place that Newfield is for children, families and staff.
It was clear to see the interpersonal, caring, respectful and trusting relationships between staff, pupils and parents, demonstrating a family atmosphere where everyone knows and supports each other. Children were engaged and encouraged in learning, calm, happy, safe, nurtured and the members of the student council who showed me round the school communicated confidently, displayed exemplary behaviour, were polite, and demonstrated independence, respect and kindness.
