Let's go outside!

Every Wednesday, teachers and HLTAs stay after school for meeting time to help us to develop what we offer - this week, we were looking at how important being outside is for our wellbeing and how children benefit and learn better outdoors.

The session was lead by teacher Anna and began after a busy day in school with the group going outside for a few minutes, exploring the school grounds to think about how the planned learning can be take outdoors - they had fun with the parachute and experienced first hand the invigoration of fresh air - coming back in ready to continue with the rest of the training workshop.

Over at Shad on Thursday, HLTA Gill put into practise what had been discussed, starting the day with Class 1 enjoying making and eating breakfast outside.

All the pupils enjoyed using their literacy and communication skills to take the orders, practical independence skills to prepare their breakfast and make there own drinks - and then had lots of fun eating al fresco!

Hopefully we will get lots of nice weather this term so that everyone can benefit from learning in the great outdoors.
