S5 have had a busy week looking after baby chicks. We have had to care for them ensuring they have a clean cage, fresh food and water and have their brooder lamp switched on to keep warm - we’ve seen them grow each day even though they have only been here for 4 days!
We have based our literacy work on using adjectives to describe and making a chick diary too.
Lots of classes have enjoyed meeting the chicks, listening to them chirp and feeling their soft feathers.
They will go back to the farm now to live with Emily.
We learnt that If they are girls they can lay eggs from 21 weeks and if they are boys they will be used to breed. We have really enjoyed the experience and learnt lots about caring for animals and what animals need to survive.
