BwD Disability Information Day 2024

Today, our Family Wellbeing Coordinators attended the yearly Disability Information Day at King George’s Hall in Blackburn.

They joined over 70 other services to provide families with information about local services aimed at helping and supporting children and adults with disabilities.

It was a busy but very rewarding day for all. Newfield’s own Nursing Team also had a stall, promoting ‘Special Needs School Nursing Service’. Our Nurses provided useful advice to parents and carers of children and young adults affected by complex physical and medical needs.

Deb Wheeler from the Mental Health Support Team, who is a Education Mental Health Practioner and is based at Newfield 2 days a week this year was also there, along with lots of parents and a few former students, which it was lovely to see - and the Mayor!

Such events are ideal opportunities for professionals and members of the public to network and find out about services, which they may not have heard about.
