Today we marked the very special, historical event of the Coronation of King Charles III at Newfield.
Staff and pupils had dressed for the occasion in red, white and blue; we have decorated school and are all set for the run up to the big day tomorrow.
In the morning, we had re-enactments of the Coronation, with pupils taking on the roles of the King, the Queen Camilla and the Archbishop of Canterbury. Our PAT dog Harley also visited with Graham to join in the celebrations.
There was lots of flag waving, cheering and placing of crowns and orbs!
At lunchtime the catering team had prepared a traditional chippy lunch - well there is nothing more British than fish and chips!
This was followed by afternoon tea with a selection of cakes and biscuits - these were specially made with stamps for the occasion!
Our children based at Shadsworth were invited to the infant school celebrations where they all had a lovely ice cream treat.
All of the classes have made a crown this week, and these were displayed in the atrium for everyone to see - headteacher Rachel judged our crown competition and deemed that the best crown was made by Class 4 - well done! We think they were all amazing.
In the afternoon, after the serious ceremony and the wonderful lunch, we had a disco and a Karaoke for the King - they all sang their hearts out!
We hope everyone has a wonderful Coronation Weekend - and see you on Tuesday when will have a new crowned King!
