Parent Carer 'Meet the Headteacher' Coffee Morning

This morning we invited parents and carers into school to meet our new headteacher, Rachel Kay and what a well-attended and lively coffee morning was! Parents really enjoyed sharing their thoughts, experiences, suggestions and concerns – Meeting with Rachel was the pièce de résistance of the morning of course!

Some teachers also nipped in and offered 1:1 advice to parents who requested it.

The aim of today’s coffee morning was for parents to meet new Head-Teacher Rachel Kay and to enable all participants to share ideas and suggestions for future projects involving partnership between families and Newfield School.

Family Wellbeing Coordinators Ann Marie and Mathilde, will focus, in conjunction with staff and pupils on measurable goals that they can work on achieving together to enhance our offer to families.

Over 20 families joined us - parents, carers, grand parents and a few siblings! Some of the suggestions they had were: • Parents Group • Drop in Support Group (possibly involving Sharon Reid) • Parent Led Activity Groups • Wake & Shake for pupils and parents/carers • Beauty Therapy sessions • Family involvement week • School building to be used during holidays • Siblings Groups • Dance / MOVE sessions • Gym / Relaxation • Cricket/ Badminton for Mums

It was fantastic to see so many families in school and we are really excited about working closely with parents and carers, particularly as we renew our commitment to the Leading Parent Partnership Award - LPPA.

We’d love to see more of you in school so please contact AnnMarie or Mathilde if you are interested in joining a group, or just want to pop in for a chat!
