Preparing for the New School Year

Today, after a lovely long summer holiday, staff returned to school to start to prepare to welcome back our children next Monday. It was lovely to see lots of familiar colleagues, as well as meeting new staff joining the Newfield family, including our new head teacher Rachel Kay.

After a briefing to the whole staff from Rachel, staff all set off preparing classrooms or taking part in training.

All of our teachers and HLTAs spent the whole day receiving some fantastic phonics training from phonics experts, Jenny and Daisy from Twinkl - it was really interesting and fun and we are looking forward to using the great resources with the children to promote a love of stories, reading and literacy.

Other staff took part in Team Teach, Moving and Handling, or First Aid training, where they were practising their knowledge and skills to support children & keep them safe and well.

Over the summer lots of work has been going on in our building - with improved lighting, new whiteboards and the premises team renovating and making school ready for another exciting year.

We are looking forward to another training day tomorrow, and then seeing the children back next week!
