Staff Training Day - Summer 22

Whilst the children had their last day in school yesterday, staff have been back in today, very busy, getting ready for the next academic year. We have been swapping rooms, organising class spaces, removing displays to prepare for new ones and taking part in lots of training.

We have had some staff doing Team Teach training and others taking part in a huge number of sessions delivered by our fantastic nursing team - medication administration, gastrostomy feeding, epilepsy, asthma, reduce medication administration, epi-pen training… the list goes on!

We do all of this training to ensure that our staff are all ready to support children’s needs straightaway in September.

The nursing team also held a drop-in with Cate and June on hand to demonstrate and explain as well as answer any queries.

There was a variety of equipment and leaflets to look at to see how things work ie gastrostomy buttons, trachy equipment etc. and this was of interest to all staff, teachers and HLTAs, who benefitted from having a better understanding of what the EHCAs do with all the medical needs so lots of people popped along and had a go!

Thanks to everyone for all their efforts today to prepare to welcome children back in September.

Wishing everyone involved with the Newfield Family a wonderful, safe summer… see you all soon.
