Beaches - Home & Away

This half term we have been learning all about Great Britain in preparation for our Queen’s Jubilee Celebrations. As part of the theme, S2 have been focusing on different types of areas in our country - towns, cities, mountains, countryside… and have most recently been thinking about beaches.

Last week, Terence and Minhaj worked together and wrote the poem below, completely independently about a British seaside…

But today the whole class took a trip to Hawaii for their last week of the topic.

They started the day with a relaxing sensology and yoga session and imagined we were lying on a warm Hawaiian beach, they could smell coconuts and pineapples and feel the sea breeze and mist. They could hear steel pan drums and ukuleles and had a go at playing them themselves. They enjoyed fanning each other with large palm leaves.

After that they tried on leis and grass skirts and did a Hawaiian dance lesson. They all enjoyed swaying to the music. They decorated their own Hawaiian shirts and coloured in flags, hibiscus flowers and the native bird the “NENE”.
