Dance Project with LPM

Today Newfield School were introduced to a fun afternoon of following and creating dance.

LPM Dance Company have a solid background of working with students with special educational needs and have come into school to teach our students and staff how everyone can access dance.

Classes from the School for Autism and the older students in SEND school had the opportunity for a taster dance session. We had great fun learning about levels, creating different shapes with our bodies and travelling around the room.

The students also did some lovely pair work in mirroring each other and making a bridge from different parts of their bodies. Those students who really enjoyed the session will be part of an exciting dance project with LPM that will go towards the Festival of Making this year.

We will be creating a video with interviews and progress snippets of rehearsal of the students, so we’ll be getting ready for West End or Broadway next!

We will also be having a costume designer who will be working closely with this group to create costumes to reflect their movement and the theme of the ocean.

It is truly a very exciting opportunity to get Newfield Dancing, and the company will be working with us over the next couple of months, so watch this space…
