Happy St. Patrick’s Day

Today we celebrated St. Patrick’s Day in school- the patron saint of Ireland.

HLTA Denise began the day wishing everyone ‘Maidin mhaith, a chairde! Lá Fhéile Padraig sona dhaoimh! Bain taitneamh as an lá!’ - Translated…. Good morning, friends! Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Enjoy your day!

Then some classes enjoyed Irish themed activities.

In primary they made Leprechaun gloop with icing sugar, green food colouring and water, touched oiled cooked spaghetti to represent St Patrick removing all the snakes from Ireland, explored cereal shapes to represent lucky charms.

They had lots of textured paper to make a shamrock, feathers and corrugated paper to make a smiley leprechaun and explored ingredients to make Irish soda bread muffins with a modern twist of cheddar cheese and jalapeños.

All this was accompanied by a selection of Irish traditional and modern music which everyone could not resist dancing to!

They also enjoyed exploring foam rainbows, everyone had lots of fun.
