World Book Day 2021

Today we are celebrating stories and books on this special day.

We have recorded a very special version of a favourite book as a BIG READ - we want everyone to share this story together today - whether you are in schoolmate home, on a beach or in bed - you can join in by reading the book and watching the live action version from our fabulous staff on our YouTube channel.

It’s been a whole staff effort with site team, office staff, support staff and teachers dressing up and filming for your entertainment. It is narrated by Vicki, our Deputy Head from the school fro Autism and we really hope you enjoy it!

We all love books and today in school and in our virtual lessons we are celebrating the wonderful world that books open up for everyone to learn from and let their imagination go wild!

You can also see below what characters our HLTAs have dressed up as to tell us about their favourite books…

Teachers Danielle, Shannon, Amy and Laura W have been running special sessions for our learners at home - Shannon and Danielle have ‘What the ladybird heard on holiday’ and a beach sensory activity, while Laura has made a video of a craft session where you can make a ladybird puppet which is also on our YouTube site. Amy is running a listening activity all about sounds on a farmyard - so we really have embraced the Julia Donaldson story fully!

You can see Katrina’s class - team A1 - dressed as the characters from Eric Carle’s Brown Bear - brown bear, blue horse, white dog and red bird.

One of our families sent in the photo of their child reading to his teddies at nana’s house - fantastic!

We’d love to see you dressed as a favourite character from a story - send us your photos please!
