The Benefits of the Great Outdoors

Some of our children in the School for Autism have been enjoying learning outdoors this week. This will become a regular feature in their working week as their teacher, Anna Heyworth, has lots of experience and knowledge of this approach to learning. There are many benefits to learning and exploring outdoor spaces. Studies have shown that learning outdoors can support the curriculum as well as developing social skills, communication and children’s’ well-being. The article below tells of the studies that have been carried out in a range of settings to show this.

Newfield School is committed to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults as its number one priority.

Full copies of Policies and Procedures related to all aspects of Safeguarding, and the Complaints Policy, are available on request from Rachel Kay, Head Teacher and Designated Senior Lead for Safeguarding and Child Protection.
