As we return to school after lockdown we have thought very hard at Newfield about how to prepare the children to return and how to ease the transition.
We know that they have experienced a lot of changes in recent times and routines have been disrupted like never before! We want to help our children in the School for Autism feel prepared to return so teachers have used social stories as a way to explain what things will be like in school.
There are visual stories on our website and video tours of the school to remind the children what school is like. Our new teacher Rachel is developing some lovely sensory activities about masks! She has photo of the staff and is covering the faces with shaving foam masks for children to wipe off and see what the staff look like under their masks!
Dealing with the COVID 19 pandemic has brought out creativity in our teachers and they have been getting everything ready for their classes. We can’t wait to get the children back into routine and get busy learning again!
