Baxter’s First Full Day

Today we had our lovely Pets As Therapy dog Baxter in school and he stayed for his very first full day at school!

In the morning he spent time in classes doing work with the children.

In the school for Autism he was getting to know the children and they were meeting him for the first time and learning how to be gentle when stroking him. They were very excited.

In class 6 it was one of their final sessions with him, so they know him really well and enjoyed bonding with him even more, giving him food and his carrot treats.

He had a little walk in the snow at lunchtime and then spent the afternoon helping Caroline and Nick in the office, while his ‘mum’ took a lesson in class.

He was a very good boy, got lots of surprised reactions from staff and children visiting the office, had a little nap and then was very happy to go home after his long day.

It’s great having a dog around school and the children enjoy spending time with him, talking to him and looking after him.

See you soon Baxter!
