Working with our Nurses

Some of pupils really struggle with having health procedures ‘done to them’ and so our fantastic nursing team have been working with classes to help them to get used to working with health professionals who want to help them.

The de-sensitisation sessions have been going really well as you can see from the fantastic photos showing our pupils being really brave.

The children have gone from being afraid and resistant, to relaxed and happy to have their height, weight, temperature and blood pressure taken - they’ve even had a go at doing it to the nurses Cate and June.

The nurses said that it was a pleasure to spend this time in class and let the children become aware of some of the medical equipment which they all enjoyed exploring. They are hoping to deliver these types of sessions through the whole school to support children and families when they need help from doctors and nurses in the future.

Types of sessions on offer include

  • Heights and weights
  • Temperature and blood pressure
  • Water Challenge
  • 5 A Day healthy eating challenge
  • Oral Hygiene
  • Hand washing
  • Exercise and pulse
  • Personal Hygiene

Our nurses are happy to support parents as well, so if you need any support, please get in touch.

Thanks to Cate and June for doing such a great job.
