Today our Sensory Integration therapist, Julia Dyer, came into school to work with children, but also to receive a cheque for the Love for Kenya charity which Newfield School supports via the RRSA steering group. We raised £240.73 towards the charity with a variety of events over the last few months.
At the steering group meeting on Monday we had a discussion about what we would like the money to go towards.
There are three main things they need money for. One is for crops so they have food; two is to paint the school which is important as the school gets inspected by the government inspectors, if the school isn’t painted correctly it can be shut down. The third choice was text books because the government insist of new text books yearly.
The group chose food. Terence said if the children are hungry then they can’t learn. Juli was very happy to take the cheque out with her when she visits the charity in Kenya in a few weeks time.
The group had also drawn some pictures to take with her to decorate the children’s classrooms.
