Here at the School for Autism @ Newfield we have been developing our use of the ‘Attention Autism’ approach!
The approach aims to develop the attention skills of our pupils and to try to engage them in lots of fantastic learning experiences.
Attention Autism was developed by Gina Davies; she advocates offering children ‘an irresistible invitation to learn’!
One of our talented teachers, Emma, has been trained in the approach and is working with other teachers to roll it out across different classes.
The idea is to capture the children’s attention by making interesting, sensory and fun activities the focal point of the learning.
Once we have interested children, we get the best learning!
