Today a group of students from 14-19 were fortunate enough to be invited to watch a concert at the world famous Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester.
The main purpose of the concert was for the students to experience an ‘up close’ encounter with some orchestral instruments and to hear music being played by a live ensemble, but in a safe and calm environment appropriate to their learning requirements of our students.
The small ensemble was made up of 5 orchestral instruments and the story was centred around going on a journey and meeting various animals along the way.
There was a number of multi-sensory elements and a chance for the students to join in and interact with the players. A number of our students enjoyed playing the instruments themselves.
The concert was located in the Carol Nash Hall which is in the new part of the school and we were the only school so we felt very honoured and the students thoroughly enjoyed it!
They all had a wonderful time working with and being entertained by the extremely talented pupils and staff of Chetham’s - thank you very much to them for the invitation, we hope to be able to return another time.
