Railway Work Experience

Today, four pupils went to Manchester Victoria station from Blackburn station on the train. They went there to get an insight to what some staff do in the rail industry. One by one the pupils met and grilled train drivers, train dispatchers, conductors, 3 Transport Policewomen and a couple of managers about their roles. There was a chance to explore the equipment that they use including handcuffs. Later, we had a tour around the station and our students wore their VIP lanyards with pride which allowed them to get through the gates. We also spent a moment at the memorial corner to remember those affected by the recent bombing at the MEN arena. With so much to do and to experience the hustle and bustle of the platforms, we were glad to rest on the train journey back. Thanks to Daisy from Community Rail Lancashire who organised the whole train experience for us.
