At the beginning of December, 2 of our staff members took part in a sleep out event - sleeping in Blackburn town centre to raise awareness and funds to support homeless people. It was a cold, long night but lots of people, including our own Sharon and Mathilde, braved the night to experience some of how it feels to be homeless. They were cold and tired the next day, but felt it had been a worthwhile thing to do for the charity Nightsafe which supports homeless people in Blackburn. Mathilde and Sharon were sponsored by family, friends and colleagues and raised a fantastic amount - altogether a whopping £757.51
Back in school we decided to have a board where we could ‘buy’ houses to write Christmas messages to our colleagues instead of sending cards - with the £37.51 raised also going to Nightsafe.
