RRSA Visitors from Kenya

Today we were delighted to welcome Francis, Fred and Henry to school, along with Julia Dyer to tell us all about the charity that we support, Love for Kenya. The steering group had fundraised last summer and sent over play equipment for the school orphanage. Our guests enjoyed a tour of school and a special whole school assembly, where we looked at similarities between our schools and the things we like to do. Our guests were treated to songs by the choir as well as a lively wheelchair dance from classes 4 & 5. We presented them with pictures that the children have drawn and also a laminated copy of the powerpoint about our schools and of the articles of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). In being ambassadors for UNICEF we love to promote rights of children, and were keen to make sure that this was extended to our friends in Kenya. Afterwards, some of the steering group got to ask questions over a drink. The guests were very impressed by our school and our children. We will be continuing to support them to help the children in Kenya by fundraising and keeping in touch.
