WAAW - Friday Activities

Today saw our whole school event for the end of World Autism Awareness Week. Everyone has been asked to wear blue and there was a range of activities for staff and pupils to enjoy, beginning with an exploration of the pods in the hall on Friday morning. There were three pods for pupils to explore which included: a sensory pod filled with a multitude of blue coloured items to aid the concentration, sensory needs and fine and gross motor skills of our pupils; a social games pod to help our pupils to develop their existing social skills through turn taking games such as buckaroo and pop up pirate and finally there was a role play pod which saw pupils participate in shopping role play and some visually led craft activities to practice some valuable life skills. The pods proved to be very successful in engaging all of our pupils to use and develop their existing skill set.
