Recipe 4 Health

We are delighted to tell you that we have been successful in achieving yet another accolade! Recipe 4 Health is an award aimed at trying to improve the amount of healthier choices on the menu - and we’ve got the gold award because of fantastic school dining opportunities! Blackburn with Darwen Council’s Environmental Health team working in partnership with Public Health and the healthy living team give out the awards. Their officers are working with businesses, schools etc to help to advise about healthy options, offering free menu analysis and advice on allergies labelling, whilst helping them to add healthier dishes to their menus, reducing harmful fat content, salt and sugars. The aim is not to force people to eat healthier options, but to make it easier to find healthy options when eating out for those who want them. Everyone here loves Helen and the team’s delicious food and it’s great to know that it is so healthy - they even make a fat and flour free chocolate cake! Helen is holding a parent carer workshop where you can make one of her great puddings to take home on 4th November at 2pm - all welcome - contact school to book a place. So now, not only do we have a food hygiene rating of 5 - the highest possible, we also hold the gold Recipe 4 Health award - Congratulations to the team!
