Ramadhan Group - Friday prayers

Our first Ramadhan Group session this afternoon was really good. All the boys wore topis (hats) and some girls wore the headscarf for the whole period. They listened respectfully to the Azaan, the call to prayer, in silence and then heard some familiar nasheeds/naats (Islamic poems) which they joined in with. Samyan was particularly expressive whilst reciting and would move his hands and arms to punctuate a verse. Generally, the atmosphere was relaxing and had a calming effect on most of the pupils. They really liked the Ramadhan Moon story and the story that was narrated by a puppet! At the end we listened to a prayer to thank Allah for all the things we have. Shabaash (well done) to those who took part!
