Imaginary Greek Holiday at Newfield

Tutor group 4’s Creative Curriculum theme for the summer term focussed on the country ‘Greece’ looking at tourism, buildings, food, music and dance. At the end of the first part of the term, they went on an imaginary visit to Greece - well it was all fantastic and authentic, apart from the weather! Within the theme there were lots of opportunities for literacy and numeracy, art and craft work and dance and movement. This culminated in a Greek meze meal for lunch with the classroom set up like a Greek restaurant. The menu consisted of chicken souvlaki, moussaka, stuffed peppers and tomatoes, Greek salad, pitta bread with tzatziki dip followed by Greek walnut cake with Greek yogurt ice cream. Yum yum!!! There was lots of talking and communicating, some plate smashing at the end and lots of dancing to Greek music - everyone had a fantastic time!
