School Council Meeting

Today, our school council met to discuss a variety of issues and raise them with staff they had invited to attend. The group meets once every half term and are supported by Sharon our school counsellor. Terry, building and Facilities Manager, came to answer questions about health and safety and David had lots to ask and had very strong opinions about health and safety rules! He wants us to focus on education not health and safety. Jordan asked for benches outside in the summer and Waseem asked about new blinds for classes as nothing has been done about this. Terry also informed group about ongoing building and gardening work. Brenda, Deputy Leader Buisness Services, attended to explain to group what her role is – she is responsible for everything outside of learning – site, getting new staff, spending money, safety, school meals etc. As a priority Brenda instructed Terry to get basketballs as requested by the group! Catering Manager, Helen, came to discuss healthy lunches and asked for more suggestions for children’s choices. Deputy Head 11-19, Jenny, asked group questions about how safe they are in schools, to help write the school safeguarding policy. The students were very mature, listening to each other and respecting each other’s opinions.
