Staff CPD - Developing Coaching Skills training

Today, Trish McCarthy, an advisor from LCC, came into school to deliver a day training session to some of our teachers and HLTAs which looked at ‘coaching’ in theoretical and practical terms, to help our staff to get even better at working together and supporting each other. The staff involved looked at the ‘GROW’ method of supporting people to find their own solutions and answers to quandaries. Our deputies, Vicki and Jenny, met Trish when they took part in the training session at Woodlands in Chorley last year. They were so impressed by the day, and felt that learning to work in this way could really have a positive impact on developing our school and our staff. The staff involved are taking part in a Joint Practice Development (JPD) project, working in learning triads, to support each other to improve specific aspects of their practice. Developing our staff is important to us, so we are all excited about working in this innovative way to improve outcomes for children, families and staff at Newfield.
