Remembrance Day assembly

Today, we remembered people who have lost their lives fighting in wars and conflicts around the world during a special assembly, with lots of staff and children wearing red for the occasion. Some pupils from the ARC made a large poppy by sticking on artwork poppy leaves that they had made, while Beth read poems about remembrance. Lois then played ‘the last post’ and we then all clapped for a whole minute, in place of the minute silence. Lois then played ‘the reveille’. We have been selling poppies all week and will be sending the money raised to the Royal British Legion who support former soldiers. At the end of the assembly, each class was given a pot with compost and some poppy seeds, so that they can grow their own poppies, which you can see in the photo. It was a really special assembly and everyone enjoyed taking part.
