This week, lots of our pupils and staff will be celebrating Eid at home with their families. Today, everyone had a lovely time being creative at the Eid Sensory Event. There were sessions in the Hall and the Studio which gave everyone the opportunity to be involved with Eid al-Adha; and there was a Henna stall where some pupils got some lovely designs applied to their arms or hands. Pupils did some really good listening to the Eid story and learnt about how a ram was given to Ibrahim. After the story, pupils used their senses to explore Eid related artefacts, taste jalebis, smell attar (fragrance) and listen to animal sounds. They were really interested and showed concentration in the objects presented to them.
Other activities include creating a collage of prayer mats with everyone adding their personal mark to the large template provided. Some pupils created some lovely Eid cards using sparkly gems, glitter and various textured materials. The coconut candies that pupils enjoyed making were delicious and they really appreciated choosing their colour of the bun case to personalise their sweet.
