Chinese Supermarket Trip

Today, in preparation for the Chinese stall in our ‘European Day of Language’ street fair next week, TG6 went to Wing Yip Chinese Supermarket in Manchester. It was really good and Dominic, who is a regular there, was quick to show us where the extravagant building was. Inside the building had an authentic feel where Mohammed thought he was on holiday in China, particularly with the big bold Chinese signs, spoken language, food, chinaware and people… There was lots of food seen there with many things that had not even been heard of by the class. The fusion of the smells from the oriental spices and sauces were aromatic and it was difficult for many of us to identify the source. Some of us tasted Pajeon which is a Chinese pancake with vegetables and seafood topped with a little soy sauce. TG6 displayed a high level of independence whilst walking around the supermarket and being aware of their environment. They had bought several items for the forthcoming Days of the Languages and the Chinese New Year which they are looking forward to show. Do come and try using the selection of chopsticks bought to taste some Chinese food.
