Today we held our wonderful Summer Fair and what an amazing day we had! Colin the Town Crier opened the event by introducing our special guest Peppa Pig, and her minder! The entertainment was fantastic including music from the brass ensemble starring our very own teacher Lois, dancing from the Red Rose Majorettes and a fabulous performance from our school choir. We were visited by the Deputy Mayor and his wife and the local Police Community Support Officers, which really added to the occasion. David and his team ran some brilliant games including The Cube, Play Your Cards Right and Beat the Goalie and we all had lots of fun throwing wet sponges at Sean and Nick in the stocks! The weather was perfect and all our pupils, parents and visitors really enjoyed our stalls with lots of lovely things to buy, see and do. We got the chance to meet some magnificent hawks and owls and Alistair and his potter’s wheel was very busy making pots, pigs and turtles. The ice cream van was a very welcome sight after being on the bouncy castle on such a hot and sunny day, and those seeking shade were really impressed by the showcase of our children’s work in the hall. Helen and her team did a sterling effort in the kitchen serving up delicious burgers, hot dogs, chicken pittas, deep filled sandwiches and ice cream milkshakes, and the whole thing ran like clockwork. We’re still counting the money raised towards our new minibus and will let you know the amount as well as the winners of our brilliant raffle prizes as soon as we can. In the meantime, we would like to say a huge thank you to all those who helped or came on the day and to those who donated items for our raffle, tombola, cake stall and good as new stalls – you all made it a brilliant day!! So far, we have raised £3800!! But watch this space for a final total update later this week.
