Health and Safety Week

Welcome back to another action packed half term! This week is Health & Safety Week and we have lots of fun and exciting activities planned to help pupils and staff learn about how to keep themselves safe. This morning we were visited by staff from Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue and they brought along their rescue dog Holly to meet us.
We had a look at all the equipment that they use when finding people who are lost. Everyone really enjoyed touching the ropes, helmets, stretchers and special objects that the volunteers use to rescue people in trouble in the local hills and mountains. We were all very impressed with the fancy land rover vehicles, filled with safety gear - but everyone’s favourite was of course the lovely rescue dog. The premises and pupil services managers have worked really hard to ensure that we have lots of visitors and opportunities to try out new things. Throughout the week we are looking forward to visits from the Fire Service and St John Ambulance. We are also holding a Road Safety Awareness Workshop - where pupils will take on the challenge of crossing the road safely while one of our site supervisors drives the bus up and down at them!
