R.E. Week - Celebrating Islam

- In Category: Visitors

On day 3 of R.E. week, we were finding out more about Islam. We had visitors in from an organisation called ‘Inspiring Grace’, who began the day with an assembly to introduce the Muslim faith. The pupils then went to do a range of different activities. In the Blackburn hall, the inflatable pods were in use again. In the first pod, pupils enjoyed a story about things that are important to Muslims, such as the mosque and the Qu’ran. In the second pod, one of our visitors taught us about how Muslims pray and talked to us about the prophet Muhammed. The third pod was about food shared during times of celebrations - we were really pleased to have one of our parents with us, who did a great job helping the pupils to make sweets. Meanwhile, in the studio, the pupils found out more about how Muslims get ready to pray and were able to listen to some prayers being recited. In the afternoon, some of the pupils were also able to have their hands decorated with henna when another of our fantastic parents came in to help. Back in class, pupils listened to stories from the life of the prophet Mohammed and worked on their crafts for the exhibition on Friday. Thanks to our visitors from ‘Inspiring Grace’ and to the parents who came in and made it another brilliant day!
