Religious Education Week

Religious Education Week

This week is R.E. week at Newfield and so the pupils are joining in with lots of special activities related to Christianity, Hinduism and Islam, organised by our R.E. subject coordinator, Jenny Nelson. We began today by setting off on a quest to find out more about Christianity. Pupils from KS2 and KS3 visited our 3 inflatable activity pods, where volunteers from Blackburn Cathedral shared stories about Jesus. In each pod, the pupils collected something to remind them of what they had learned. They also enjoyed a more reflective session in the studio about how special they are to God, which included finger painting and songs. In the photo, a volunteer is speaking to one of our pupils about looking at Jesus as the light of the world. Meanwhile, other volunteers from Christchurch in Blackburn visited classes to talk about why their faith is important to them and to answer any questions the pupils had. Some classes also enjoyed having a story told to them with the help of a puppet and then were able to make their own lollipop puppets. So, it’s been a very busy but enjoyable day! Thanks to all the volunteers from Blackburn Cathedral and Christchurch who made it such a special day - the pupils enjoyed it and have learned a lot about the Christian faith.
